Ehh, admittedly nothing advanced here, I just added the cane!XD and I know, I know, so extremely silly of me... I'm supposed to be a 20 yr old... but I just couldn't resist it! ;D Also... being the hardcore malexmale shipper I am, I simply couldn't put the gingerbread MEN close to the female bisqs, so I started sorting them male+male and female+female before putting them in the oven XD (after that, they all got mixed up though;))

Yet another exciting day in the life of xante. Yes.

There are a few kinds of different anime and manga series. To me (rabit yaoi fangirl) there is:

1. The ones with such ugly character designs, you don't even finish the series. The main chara has no deptht and the story no plot.
2. The ones with lousy characterizations and sucky plot, but you might read it for the pretty art work.
3. The ones with such promising characters, but sucky plot, that you turn to fanfic for a better story/interaction between charas.
4. The ones with promising plot and characters, but the dialogues are embarassingly cliché or just painfully bad. You read/watch the title, but you don't get a craving of "MORE!" afterwards, and instead just turn back to your favourite shounen series. You will probably never bother with fanfiction on this one.
5. The ones with great pairings and characters, but the plot is boring/lacking in some way. You read it only for your fave ship/the pretty art.
6. The ones with great plot and characters/character interaction, but no romance what-so-ever. You write/read fanfic or doujinshi to remedy that.
7. The ones with as great a plot and characters as number six, but with disappointing pairings -- you turn to fanfic to read or write more about your favourite ship, and hatefully bash your least favourite ships in your own fanfiction. (Most shounen manga falls into category six and seven...)
8. The ones with awesome plot and characters, it's probably so great you don't even MIND the female main character, and even though the openly heterosexual action (... hand holding and a hug...) probably bothers you to some extent, you will put up with it because hell, this series is GOOD, it's intriguing. You don't (much) think about yaoi pairings as you watch/read it. However, at the end of the day, you smile to yourself as you remember that a reverse harem is really nothing but a bunch of guys in denial, and you proceed to find good fanfiction. (Furuba and Vampire Knight belongs here, I think.)
9. The ones with such awesome plot and character interactions; where even laying your eyes on fanfiction feels like a taboo. You do wish it had more slashy undertones however, so you turn to fanfiction in the end; feeling dirty afterwards. But no fic writer could match the mangaka's characterizations anyway, so 99% of the fanfiction is no good... yet you crave it, because the effing mangakas will probably have teased you with all these "close friends" that are COUGHCOGH"only friends"COUGHCOUGHyearrightCOUGH. But like I said -- the fanfiction won't be very satisfying. In fact, you value a small LOOK in canon more than any fanon smex you could get through fanfiction.
10. The ones with such awesome plot and character interactions; you get the slashy undertones and sometimes even an outright, canon confession!! Fanfiction is not even on your map any longer. (Most of CLAMP's manga fall into category nine and ten!)

Might explore this list sometime later... it just appeared in my mind, and I wanted to get it down in writing.

Guh, bad timing is the theme of my life. I was offered to take a fish-chef course, and it's good chances of getting a job afterwards.. only one problem: it's in *the town I live right now* and I'm moving from here in little more than a week! -__-' I mean... so chef is nothing I'd considered before (xantemortemx speciale is cupnoodles with added cayenne pepper... tells you a bit 'bout mah cooking skillz, yeah?), but it would be seriously awesome to be one..! X''D But it won't happen. 'Tleast not right now. (Because I AM moving.) But, maybe later I can cook look into it some more, hm.

Oh, and the horse riding thing? Starting in two weeks, I'll take riding lessons saturday mornings! :3

Like I said a couple posts ago, I'm not too active @ lj as I usually just post in my blog. But there is one good thing in using this lj account: none of my personal acquintances know of it. I think. So I can post stuff here, that I wish to keep a secret from my irl friends. Not that I'm a person of many secrets. But still. If I had secrets, this is where I'd post them. :o)

Please cross your fingers for me -- I applied for adult-beginners' riding lessons at a local riding school, and I really hope I'll be placed in a group this fall! I used to practically live in the stables a few years ago, and I miss it.~ I'm still just a beginner when it comes to riding (I know the basics, not much else), but I love it!

Speaking of horse riding, I come to think of a really good and old friend of mine, who's awesome on the horseback. I guess it's natural, since she's been doing it since she was just a small kid, but nevertheless... Seriously, she looks as though she was born on the horseback; like the horse is just an extension of herself or something! But she's not the least haughty or snooty about it! I'm just so impressed, she's so much better than me at everything she does... had it been anyone else, I'd probably be jealous, but I've never really been envious of her. My own self-loathing migh go up a notch (I seriouslu have no talents at all, depressingly enough), but I could never NOT like her. On the contrary, I love her more than anyone else! XD I'm just glad such an awesome person is my friend. xxx

First off, I wish to make it clear that I don't consider my own fanfiction writing - and characterization - skill to be anything above average. I don't claim to be better than anyone, but as I was wasting a little time earlier, reading through a bunch of fics (time travel, hpdm, hpss, bit of everything), I gradually felt my patience grow thin. Let's jump straight into my "concerns":

1. Why, please why, can't people at least TRY to keep everyone in character!? I very much can NOT imagine McGonagall introducing herself by way of saying "please call me Minnie". Nor that Dumbledore would use the word "stuff" to describe anything. Possibly when quoting someone with a bit of humor; but in serious conversation? God, please why do you do this to me! Oh, that's right, you don't exist...

2. The way of describing Snape in Snapecentric fics. "Ebony orbs", "silky strands"... Fanon!Snape kills me. Let me be the first to say that I don't regard Snape as with "yellow teeth, greasy hair, ugly nose", because I believe that to be the slightly subjective view his students have of him. But to write him into some kind of aristocratic SEX GOD!? That's a far shot. He's not even pure blood for godssake! There is no effing "Snape Mannor", he is in all probability not fluent in French, he and Salazar Slytherin does not practise table manners together, and he does. not. have. an. effing. MANOR! GAAH. This drives me nuts, this one. Can you tell?

3. Über!Draco fucks me. Downplaying his bad traits (childishness for example; making him into some super-mature extra-well-mannered fucking pureblood prince of Slytherin with like TEH table manners) and gloryfying his entire person. That annoys me so bad I get urges to KILL every time I read it.

4. Not that supermagical!wandless!warddetecting!occlumencymaster!etc!Harry is any better.

5. Dark!Harry is also very annoying. I was gonna leave it at that, but let's not, actually! I wish to mention all the aspects of Dark!andEvil!Harry that makes me almostliterally spit on the screen. Let's start from the beginning. Oftentimes, the transformation into Dark! begins as a result of Vernon's abuse and/or Harry discovering his (homo)sexuality. He will proceed to grow his hair or, as a twist; point....

6. ....(cont. from point 5) his hair grows by itself overnight (to chinlenght), and he no longer needs his glassess, and he'll grow a few FEET (as well as his fingers getting longer, his hands "more elegant"... like, say.. fanon!Snape's hands? Maybe? Throwing a wild guess?). And maybe, just maybe, if he's lucky enough, he'll even recieve a time!letter from Lily telling him... omg!!11. Cliffhanger. And by then everyone sighs at the "subtle" hints of a severitus!fic. Yes, that's right, Lily and Snape went at it behind James' back. (Or possibly, if in a Dark!Harry fic, Snape raped her. But naturally, they'll be evil father/son-friends at the end anyway.)

Cont. on point 5: Right. So Harry will take up drinking and smoking and most definitely drugs. He'll go clubbing in leather pants and he'll cut himself. Yes yes, never to forget the cutting! He'll hurt himself as sure as he'll be friends with Draco and Blaise Zabini. Harry will all of a sudden have all these witty comebacks to Draco's insults. They'll be so witty, Draco won't even bother anymore. And Harry now knows how to cast super dark spells, like cutting spells and STUFF. That makes no sense, but it doesn't have do, cuz it's DARK!fic. As long as Harry's emo, it's okay! He probably uses said dark spells on the Gryffindors, because they let him down, everyone knows that... er, remind me again? Oh right, in Dark! fic, Dumbledore probably ordered them to act as his friends already from their first day. That's the one. I forgot. That's pure logic, that.

I'm kind of losing track...

Oh, a small addition: the Weasley twins will almost always be on Harry's side. Because people can't seem to write them evil like they apparently can Dumbledore and Ron.

Oh and Ginny is a safe bet in Dark!Harry fics: she's probably Dark! already. Right.

I'll be back with more of these little peeves of mine. There are lots of them.

Note: WELL written dark!Harry, severitus! or even sexgood!Snape CAN be good. REAL good even.

But they usually suck.

Yeah, it took me one year to actually write something, after that first post. ^^;; But I really only created the account to be able to voice my thoughts non-anonymously at some communities, and since I already have a blog, I don't really need lj. At the moment, the only thing I use xantemortemx for is to comment at fanfiction I read.
